A Command to Read and Obey the Injil
Isa did not merely call people to admire His words. He called people to hear them, believe them, obey them, and build their lives upon them. The Injil is not only information to study — it is guidance to follow.
Reading the Injil is the beginning. Obeying it changes your life. Click each heading below to expand or collapse the sections.
Look Back
- How did you see Allah at work this past week?
- What stood out to you from the last lesson?
- Did you obey anything Allah showed you?
- Did you share with anyone what you are learning?
- How regularly did you read from the Injil this week?
Look Up
Read these passages together slowly:
SAY
- What do these passages teach about the importance of the Injil?
- According to Isa, what is the difference between hearing and obeying?
- Why does Isa compare obedience to building on rock?
- What dangers come from knowing truth without obeying it?
- How does the Injil correct, guide, and shape a person's life?
- What does it mean to "abide" or remain in the words of Isa?
OBEY
- What is one clear thing Allah is asking me to obey from the Injil?
- Is there an area where I know the truth but have delayed obedience?
- How can I make regular reading of the Injil part of my daily life?
- Which command of Isa do I need to put into practice immediately?
- What would change in my life if I consistently obeyed what I read?
SHARE
- Who could I read the Injil with this week?
- Which passage would encourage someone I know?
- Who could help keep me accountable to obey what I learn?
- Who needs to hear that Allah's guidance is meant to be lived, not merely studied?
The Injil is not merely for collecting knowledge. Isa calls His followers to hear the truth, obey the truth, and help others obey it also.
Why Obedience Matters
Many people enjoy learning religious ideas, but Isa repeatedly connected love, faith, and obedience together.
- Reading without obedience can produce pride and self-deception.
- Obedience produces spiritual growth and stability.
- The Injil reveals truth about Allah, sin, forgiveness, mercy, and eternal life.
- The words of Isa guide daily life — speech, forgiveness, prayer, generosity, purity, relationships, and mission.
- Discipleship involves imitation — learning to live the way Isa taught and demonstrated.
- Obedience is practical — not perfection, but responding faithfully to what Allah reveals.
A healthy disciple asks:
- What does this passage teach?
- What must I obey?
- Who can I share this with?
Look Ahead
Choose one practical step this week:
- Begin reading one chapter of the Injil each day.
- Write down one thing you will obey from your reading.
- Read a passage aloud with a family member or friend.
- Memorise one verse from the teachings of Isa.
- Start a simple SAY / OBEY / SHARE habit after reading.
Ask: What has Allah shown me, what will I obey, and who will ask me if I did it?
Commissioning
Pray together.
- Thank Allah for revealing truth through the Injil.
- Ask Allah to give you understanding and wisdom.
- Ask for courage to obey even when obedience is difficult.
