Your First Steps in Following Isa

If you have decided to follow Isa, do not wait for a perfect plan before you take your first steps. The Injil calls you to respond, obey, and begin walking straight away.

This page is not mainly about deciding whether to follow Isa. The front page has already called for that response. This page is about what to do next: repent honestly, obey quickly, read the Injil daily, be baptised, and pass on what you receive. Click each heading below to expand or collapse the sections.

1. Turn to Allah

Be honest. Repent. Trust Isa. Begin with surrender, not performance.

2. Obey quickly

Do not wait until you know everything. Obey what you already understand.

3. Start reading

Open the Injil daily and let Allah shape your understanding and direction.

4. Share early

Tell someone what you have done and what you are learning.

Start with repentance, faith, and honesty before Allah

Read the Scripture:

Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Isa the Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (الروح القدس). (Acts 2:38)
If you confess with your mouth that Isa is Lord and believe in your heart that Allah raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

Your first step is not to impress Allah. It is to come honestly.

  • Admit your sin.
  • Turn away from it.
  • Trust Isa as Lord and Saviour.
  • Ask Allah for forgiveness and mercy.
  • Commit yourself to follow Isa from this day on.

You do not need polished religious words. But you do need a real response. Allah sees the heart.

Obey the first things first

New life begins with obedience. Do not wait until you have all your questions answered. Start obeying the things that are already clear.

Why do you call me, "Lord, Lord," and do not do what I say? (Luke 6:46)

Your first acts of obedience should include:

  • Turning from known sin.
  • Speaking openly to Allah in prayer.
  • Reading the Injil daily.
  • Being baptised.
  • Telling someone what you have done.

Growth does not come only by learning more. It comes by obeying what Allah has already shown you.

Be baptised and do not delay it

Read the Scripture:

Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16)
Those who received his word were baptised. (Acts 2:41)

Baptism does not save you by itself. But it is a clear step of obedience. It is a public way of saying: "I now belong to Isa."

Why baptism matters
  • It is commanded.
  • It marks a real response.
  • It identifies you openly with Isa.
  • It is one of the first steps new believers took in the Injil.

What if I am afraid?

Fear is real. But fear must not become your master. Ask Allah for courage. Move forward in obedience with wisdom and care.

Read the Injil every day

You need to hear Isa for yourself. Start reading the Injil daily, even if only a little at a time.

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4)

A simple starting pattern:

  • Read a short passage.
  • Ask: What does this show me about Allah, Isa, people, and obedience?
  • Obey the part that is clear.
  • Share what you learned with someone else.

Do not aim only to collect information. Aim to hear and obey.

Next step: How to Read the Injil

Tell someone early

One of the first things you should do is tell someone what Allah has done in you. Do not hide everything until you feel ready. Start simply and honestly.

Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you. (Luke 8:39)

You can say something simple like:

  • I have decided to follow Isa.
  • I am reading the Injil and learning to obey it.
  • Please read with me.

You do not need to win arguments. Just tell the truth about what Allah is doing.

Pass on what you receive

From the beginning, learn this pattern: receive, obey, and pass on. Do not wait until you become an expert.

  • Share what you read.
  • Share what you obey.
  • Invite others to read the Injil with you.
  • Help others take their first steps too.
What you have heard from me... entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others also. (2 Timothy 2:2)

Next step: How to Share With Others

What should I do this week?

Keep it simple. Start with obedience, not complexity.
